The traditional venue for the Star Alliance Christmas Lunch, the Shelbourne Hotel, was decked out in full seasonal regalia as Alan Sparling of SAS, Chairperson, welcomed all the guests and thanked them for their business in 2015.
Alan went on to point out that the Alliance is now 18 years old and has 28 member airlines, who between them carried 640 million passengers in 2014. He also announced that the member airlines are soon to work with low-cost carriers, and that Mango Air will the first.
SAS will celebrate 50 years flying to Ireland in 2016.
Attending her first Star Alliance Dublin lunch was Lynda Betsch, Country Manager UK & Ireland for Aegean Airlines, who told ITTN that she is looking forward to working with the trade.
Aegean, a Star Alliance Member, will operate direct full service scheduled flights from Dublin to Athens during the peak summer season of 2016, using an Airbus A320 configured with up to 174 seats in a two-class configuration of Business and Economy. Flights will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Saturdays, and timings are depart Dublin at 23.15 to arrive in Athens at 05.05, with return timing of depart Athens at 20.15 and arrive Dublin at 22.25.
