Set-back for China’s High-speed Train Programme

Safety systems on China’s much publicised high-speed train network are now under review following Saturday night’s accident near Wenzhou on the Beijing – Shanghai line in which at least 35 people died and 210 were injured. Like many before, a train lost power on a viaduct, but this time the following train crashed into its rear, derailing six carriages.
