Ryanair has been ranked 6th largest airline in the world – by fleet size – in a new aviation league table.
According to German aviation data analyst Statista, Ryanair – as of the middle of 2024 – had the largest fleet of any European carrier, with 594 planes.

This measure excludes Ryanair’s latest order of Boeing ‘Gamechanger’ jets due for staggered delivery this year and next.
The Irish carrier – whose route network spans Europe, northern Africa and the Middle East – ranked above Air China, IndiGo, Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa in the list.
However, the list shows the dominance of US carriers – with the top 5 positions taken up with airlines from that country.

American Airlines – with 1,558 aircraft – tops the latest list; followed by United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest, and FedEx.
