Royal Caribbean Reveals Ultimate Mediterranean Memory

To celebrate the upcoming arrival of the world’s largest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International has unveiled a panoramic view like no other.

Created entirely from memory by distinguished British artist, Stephen Wiltshire MBE, the drawing perfectly captures the coastal cities of Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Marseille – three of the locations guests will experience when sailing on Harmony of the Seas. The artwork will be displayed onboard the ship, which will be the largest cruise ship in the world when it launches in May 2016.

With his unique ability to sketch entire cityscapes from memory, Stephen merged the three distinct cities into one seamless coastal montage, which includes landmarks such as Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, Palma de Mallorca’s Castillo da Bellver and Marseille’s neo-Byzantine cathedral.

With Harmony of the Seas taking the mantel as the largest cruise ship ever built, Stephen’s drawing gives holiday makers a taste of the views that they will see on its Western Mediterranean itinerary next year, in startling detail.

Speaking on his cruise experience, Stephen said: “It was the first time I have ever been on a cruise and the whole experience and range of activities onboard took me completely by surprise. It was a pleasure to be given the opportunity to create the piece and I am thrilled that so many people from all over the world will be able to view my work while on the ship.”

Thirty-four sailings of the Western Mediterranean are scheduled from 7th June 2016. Before this guests can enjoy a sneak preview as Royal Caribbean International has two Short Getaway sailings in May. The 3-day and 4-day holidays sail roundtrip from Southampton and incorporate a visit to Cherbourg in France and Rotterdam in the Netherlands respectively.

The two cruises will be an exclusive first chance for Irish passengers to experience the ship ahead of her inaugural sailing to Barcelona, from where she will sail the Mediterranean throughout summer 2016.

Harmony of the Seas will continue the award-winning cruise line’s philosophy of innovation and imagination and promises to be a unique adventure for guests. The new ship will feature an amazing collection of experiences such as the 10-deck drop slide, Ultimate Abyss and the Bionic Bar with robot bartenders serving up one-of-a-kind crafted cocktails!

Cost from €519pp for the 3-night Short Getaway, departing in May 2016.
