The Chairman of the new Shannon Airport Authority, which will oversee the running of the airport when it becomes independent at midnight on 31st December 2012, is lawyer Rose Hynes.
She is currently Chairman of Bord Gáis Éireann and headed up the Aviation Business Development Task Force to report into the Government Steering Group on proposals for the restructuring of the State Airports and Shannon Development. A native of north Clare, her in-depth aviation experience also includes her membership of the board of Shannon Airport Authority from 2003 to 2008.
Rose Hynes has made immediate passenger growth a priority for Shannon Airport and will also focus on the development of the new Shannon International Aviation Services Centre.
Welcoming her appointment, Shannon Airport Director Mary Considine said: “Rose brings vast business and aviation experience to the position of Chairman of the new Shannon Airport Authority. She has, in her role as Chairman of the Aviation Business Development Task Force, spent the last six months building a sustainable and strategic vision for the future of our airport.
