Industry Colleagues and Friends
Over the past few weeks, we have tried to process the news of the untimely passing of our dear friend Robbie Smart. We have come together as an industry to take comfort in our own personal experiences and stories of Robbie and the joy and laughter he brought to us all – but now it is time that we get to work – as only our industry truly can… We need to help support Robbie’s’ wife Emma, who is also an industry friend, and his two children – Robyn and Holly – who have been tragically left without their amazing dad.
Many of you have mentioned fundraising events and activities that you would like to spearhead and Ger Hurley, a friend and colleague of Robbie’s from old, has offered to co-ordinate all activities. There has been talk of golf events, Camino walks, quiz nights the list goes on as we scramble to help our friend and make sense of this awful tragedy.
To start the ball rolling, I’m happy to report that the ITAA will kick off with a raffle at the ITIA awards at the Mansion House in January.
We can also report that The Travel Funday will be returning in Summer 2023, with proceeds raised going to the family. Details of which will follow as soon as the committee has been established – if you are interested in helping out with this you can email me on [email protected] and I’ll pass your name on to the right person.
Finally, if you have any plans or ideas you would like to discuss please contact Ger Hurley on [email protected] to discuss.
It goes without saying that Emma, Holly and Robyn and all of Robbie’s wider family and friends are in our thoughts and minds this Christmas and New Year.
