Portugal has rounded off an already record summer for tourist visitor numbers, by announcing a 10% year-on-year jump in August arrivals.

Latest government figures show 2.16 million people visited Portugal in August, which was a record for the month.

August tends to be Portugal’s busiest inbound summer tourist month. This August also beat pre-Covid 2019 by a healthy 10%.

Visitor numbers to the Iberian country were up by almost 22% – year-on-year – in the first 8 months of this year and were up by 11% on the corresponding period in 2019; at around 12.3 million people.
