Eight Irish travel agents are packaging Portugal for Ireland’s travel industry as a prime destination for the over 55s, with great value products in Lisbon, Estoril and the Algarve, all under the Irish Senior Travel label.
José Ramos, Director of ICEP – Portuguese Trade & Tourism Board in Dublin, along with Simão Correia and André Chaves from Vista in Portugal, presented the new concept and product at a function in the ICEP office.
The eight agencies comprise John Galligan Travel, Killiney Travel, King Travel, Limerick Travel, Rathgar Travel, Roscrea Travel, Shandon Travel, and The Travel Broker.
José Ramos said: “The importance of the seniors market is now recognised in this new autumn to spring programme to Portugal from Ireland, operating from September to May. The programme has been pioneered by a group of progressive travel agents under the banner of Irish Senior Travel.
“Following the success of similar programmes to Spain, Majorca and the Canary Islands, this new initiative gives additional choice to the discerning seniors market. Included in the new programme are such firm favourites as Albufeira, Vilamoura, Estoril and Sesimbra.
“All holidays include return flights, bag, taxes, airport transfers and accommodation. Hotels are based on half board, full board, bed and breakfast, and self-catering from €299 for one week durations, with options for two, three or four weeks holidays.”
