Following its ordinary general meeting on Thursday, Mehmet T. Nane has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Pegasus Airlines, succeeding Ali Sabancı, who held the position for 17 years. Ali Sabancı will continue to serve as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Esas Holding and as a Board Member of Pegasus Airlines.
Mehmet T. Nane, who previously served as the Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of Pegasus Airlines, joined the company in March 2016 and held the position of CEO for six years before his current role. He is also actively involved in various national and international organizations, such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Turkish Private Aviation Enterprises Association (TÖSHİD). Despite his new position, Mehmet T. Nane will continue to perform his duties in these organizations.
Mehmet T. Nane began his career in 1988 and held various positions in different companies until he joined the Sabancı Group in 1997. During his time in the group, he served as the Vice President of the Strategic Planning and Project Development department, Director of the Retail Group, and General Secretary of Sabancı Holding. In addition, he was also the CEO of Teknosa and CarrefourSA before joining Pegasus Airlines in 2016.
Mehmet T. Nane has served as Chairperson of several organizations, including the Asia Pacific Retailers Federation (FAPRA), Turkish Federation of Shopping Centres and Retailers (TAMPF), Food Retailers Association (GPD), and Chain Stores Association (ZMD). He is also a Founding Member of the Yanındayız Association and Women in Technology Association (WTECH) and a member of the PWN Equality Ambassadors. Currently, he holds various positions in different NGOs, such as the Chair of the Board of Governors and the Chair Committee of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Chairperson of the Board of the Turkish Private Aviation Enterprises Association (TÖSHİD), and Vice President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Civil Aviation Council, among others.
