Passenger throughput at Dublin Airport was just over 2 million in July, an increase of 1% on the same period last year, according to the Dublin Airport Authority. More than 11 million passengers have travelled through Dublin Airport in the first seven months of this year, a 5% increase over the same period in 2010 and offering some encouragement to Ireland’s travel industry.
Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe were flat with almost 1.16 million passengers travelling to European destinations during the month. UK traffic recorded a 4% increase with just under 660,000 passengers travelling last month.
Transatlantic traffic to North America grew by 8% with just under 190,000 passengers travelling on this route sector in July. Traffic to other international destinations, which includes flights to the Middle East and to North Africa, increased by 1% with just over 26,000 passengers travelling on these routes during July.
Passenger numbers on domestic routes declined by 58% with just under 14,000 passengers travelling on domestic flights last month.
