Paradores of Spain celebrated 90 years of service to the travel industry with an event at the Merrion Hotel, Dublin. Displaying their product in great style were Juan Jose Gonzalez Alvarez and Barbara Garcia, who gave trade and media a wonderful overview of the properties from 5-star down through various designations. The concept started in 1928 in Sierra de Gredos with the opening performed by King Alfonso X111.
The Spanish Ambassador, HE Ildefonso Castro, returning to Ireland after a placing here previously and only five weeks back in Ireland, attended the presentation.
Located in extraordinary natural settings or in the most beautiful historical and artistic surroundings, the 98 Paradores include former palaces, ancient convents, medieval castles or buildings conceived to provide a unique service along routes, in cities and towns.
Juan Jose told Irish Travel Trade News of the unique experience that awaits visitors who will enjoy the special product offering in each and every property throughout Spain.
Irish visitors to Paradores number 2,500 and the aim is for substantial growth in 2019.
Rosa Ruiz from Innstant Travel was the lucky winner of the prize draw, which included return flights to mainland Spain from Dublin Airport and two nights in any Paradores for two people on a bed&breakfast basis.
