Oman Air Sails Into Dun Laoghaire

As part of the Princes Route European sailing race for the MOD 70 class, the Oman Air-sponsored boat was in Dun Laoghaire last weekend. The €3 million craft can reach speeds of 40 knots and is part of an educational programme to train young Omani sailors up to international competition standards. In addition it is part of the mission to promote Oman as a tourist destination.

Irish-born Damian Foxall

Experienced Irish sailor Damian Foxall, who hails from Derrynane in Co Kerry, was onboard and said that he was delighted to be part of the Oman team. The boat is sponsored by the Omani national carrier, Oman Air, and he said that the boat was one of the fastest and most reliable he had sailed on.

Oman Air flies daily from London Heathrow to Muscat in Oman, offering First, Business and Economy Classes, and has a range of onward connections within the Gulf region.
