Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has become the latest cruise giant to ease its Covid requirements for pre-boarding passengers.
NCL said that as of September 3, boarding passengers who are already fully vaccinated will be able to board without the need to show a fresh negative Covid test.
That covers passengers on NCL’s Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises lines.
On top of that, unvaccinated passengers can still sail on the ships if they have tested negatively within 72 hours of boarding.
Also, children under the age of 12 do not require either vaccination or any Covid tests.
“Our revisions to testing and vaccination requirements bring us closer in line with the rest of society, which has learned to adapt and live with Covid-19,” Norwegian Cruise Line president and chief executive Frank Del Rio said.
Earlier this month MSC Cruises eased its Covid restrictions on passengers sailing on its ships out of the US, where it has two ships.
Royal Caribbean has also dropped its requirement for pre-boarding Covid testing for vaccinated passengers – for short cruises – although, unvaccinated guests will still require a negative test prior to departure.
The US’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently dropped its protocol for cruise companies to report Covid cases on their ships.
