North Wales Seeing £1bn Tourism Boost from Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham Ownership

Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have had the equivalent effect of a £1bn marketing boost on tourism in north Wales, according to a local expert.

The two actors bought Wrexham Football Club, for £2m, in 2020 and last season brought the club back into the football league for the first time since 2008.

“It’s impossible to accurately calculate the precise value of the profile created by their special brand of magic, but the Rob and Ryan factor would undoubtedly be worth more than £1 billion if you had to pay for the equivalent coverage in advertising,” North Wales Tourism CEO Jim Jones told the North Wales Chronicle.

Mr Jones said the Hollywood touch has boosted visitor numbers – particularly from North America – the northern Wales.
