The Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) has launched a new £1 million marketing campaign to encourage visitors from the Republic of Ireland for a short break or holiday this summer.

“This year’s campaign features key product areas that are particularly suited to summer visits including houses and gardens, festivals and events, family attractions, walking and adventure breaks, beaches, forest parks andcity breaks,” said Gabrielle O’Gara, NITB’s Deputy Market Manager (RoI). “It is very important that our campaigns highlight the world-class attractions, hidden gems and unique stories that we have to offer in Northern Ireland, giving people more reasons to visit and, equally important, to come back.”

The new campaign is the latest in a series of ‘Explore More’ marketing campaigns. Running until the end of August, it utilises a variety of advertising platforms including TV, radio, press, outdoor and online, as well as promotions in shopping centres and at key points of entry to the Republic of Ireland, such as Dublin Airport.

A new feature is a fresh soundtrack from young Derry band Future Chaser who have taken over from Belfast outfit John Shelley and the Creatures, whose song ‘Long May You Reign’ was a big hit from recent campaigns. The Derry four-piece, with a track entitled ‘Look Around’, were the winners of a national song competition organised by NITB to find a new campaign soundtrack.
