Virgin Atlantic’s new Airbus A330-300 aircraft will include an upgraded business class seat, bar and fine dining service in the Upper Class cabin. The aircraft will begin operating the London Heathrow-New York JFK route this spring and all Virgin’s Heathrow routes by 2015. A new airside Clubhouse will also open in March at New York JFK, complete with spa.
Virgin call the new Upper Class seat a ‘sleep suite’ and say it will offer the best sleep in the sky. Given the airline’s past history at innovating in this area, it should be great. That said, I didn’t like their old ‘herring bone’ set-up. Not as good for those travelling with others as BA, which makes it much easier to talk to your neighbour. I guess we will see when it is revealed later this month.
