The Government of Mozambique has launched its new official e-Visa platform for Irish visitors and others, a digitally powered system designed to simplify travel and support increased inbound tourism and investment.
Mozambique welcomed over 1.1 million international visitors in 2023, with arrivals expected to continue growing, making streamlined digital access an important enabler for the sector.

As part of the Visit Mozambique initiative, the new e-Visa platform forms a key pillar of the Government’s border modernisation agenda, improving efficiency, transparency and traveller convenience. Powered by VFS Global, the system enables travellers from 183 countries worldwide to apply online through a secure, fully integrated platform covering multiple categories of VISA and ETA, including Tourist, Business, Crew Transhipment, Sports and Culture, Humanitarian Assistance, Oil and Gas, with stay durations ranging from short‑term visas to long‑term visas of up to two years, all through a single, unified system.
The platform introduces advanced automation, secure data processing and cloud-based infrastructure, delivering a seamless end-to-end user experience with automated passport data extraction, an integrated photo editor, secure online payments and multilingual 24/7 customer support.
The digital rollout is expected to play a key role in promoting Mozambique globally, supporting inbound travel growth and aligning with the Government’s broader tourism and economic development objectives.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Jiten Vyas, Chief Commercial Officer of VFS Global, said: “We are privileged to partner with the Government of Mozambique on this important digital transformation initiative, which reflects a shared commitment to facilitating secure and efficient global mobility. The newly upgraded platform integrates modern digital capabilities, representing an important digital gateway for travellers, businesses and investors, reinforcing Mozambique’s commitment to welcoming the world through secure, efficient and technology‑driven mobility solutions. As part of its implementation, the e‑Visa project supports local employment and capacity, thereby contributing to skills development and job creation in the country.”
