Meryem Bennouna, UK & Ireland Director of the Moroccan National Tourist Office, invited members of the travel trade and ITTN’s Shane Cullen to an evening of Moroccan hospitality at Dada, in Dublin. Dada restaurant offers a unique fusion of authentic Moorish-inspired dishes in beautiful Moorish surroundings, a perfect backdrop to sample a taste of Morocco and hear why this vibrant North African country is among the world’s fastest-growing tourist destinations.

Speaking to ITTN’s Shane Cullen, Meryem shared: “The Irish travellers to Morocco have increased tremendously. We’re at above 50% [compared with last year], which is fantastic. We are hoping to achieve even more.”
“I was really glad to receive everyone this evening. It was a lovely, very intimate dinner between all of us – media, travel agents, operators and airlines. We are hoping to grow this event into something that happens annually – something much bigger. I’m also hoping to increase Irish traveller numbers more and more every year, which is the current trend.”

From Five Star Luxury to Escorted Tours – A Range of Holidays on Offer
Whether five-star luxury resorts under the African sunshine or escorted tours, discovering the culture and heritage of this nation, Morocco offers so much for potential travellers. With multiple direct flights from Ireland, it’s never been easier. In fact, after the hugely successful launch of Aer Lingus’s winter sun service from Dublin to Marrakesh last year, the Aer Lingus route returns from 16th September 2025.

Aer Lingus – Winter Sun from Dublin to Marrakesh
Aer Lingus launched its new route to Morocco in October 2024. The hugely popular route returns this autumn with flights commencing on the 16th of September 2025. The airline will operate thrice weekly during the winter season.
Marrakech – Rich in History & Culture
Morocco is a melting pot of dynasties and cultures. Morocco has gained international recognition as a multicultural country, with several types of heritage recognised as World Heritage by UNESCO. Morocco is one of the go-to destinations for discovery lovers, the most fascinated by nature, history, the art of living and Moroccan hospitality.

The Charm of Marrakesh – Explore the Medina
Marrakesh offers Irish travellers winter sun, exotic charm, vibrant souks, ancient palaces, and bustling medinas. The city offers an adventure at every turn, with a rich tapestry of sights, sounds, and flavours.
Medina, which means city in Arabic, refers to the old towns as part of several Moroccan cities. Often walled and characterised by its intertwined alleyways, the medians are home to traditions and culture, architecture and crafts. The Medina of Marrakesh, enclosed by twelfth-century ramparts, is a haven for shoppers. The main square within the Medina is Djemma El Fna. This is a hub of activities and entertainment both night and day. Musicians, dancers and street performers such as acrobats, fire-swallowers and soothsayers pack the square on a nightly basis.

Four Imperial Cities – Rich in History
The Medinas of Fez, Essaouira, Tetouan and Essaouira are the most famous ones. In Morocco, four imperial cities are rich in history and worth visiting: Rabat, Fez, Meknes and Marrakesh.
In Marrakesh, take time out to explore the Jardin Majorelle, a serene garden filled with exotic plants, explore the intricate beauty of the Bahia Palace, marvel at the iconic Koutoubia Mosque with its soaring minaret and see the Saadian Tomb’s mosaics.

Mountains, Deserts & Beaches
Outside the city, embark on a journey to the awe-inspiring Atlas Mountains, a camel trek in the Sahara or head to the coastal city of Agadir, famed for stunning beaches and year-round sunshine. In fact, Marrakesh & Agadir make a marvellous combination for a twin centre holiday with a transfer time of c. 3 hours between the two cities.
