For the April issue of Irish Travel Trade News, to be distributed to agencies next week, Sarah Slattery interviewed five of Ireland’s leading corporate travel agencies about the latest trends in business travel, including smartphone apps.
Liam Lonergan, Managing Director, Club Travel, said: “Future developments will inevitably revolve around mobile – travellers want to research, book and manage their itineraries on the go. They want recommendations on places to eat and public transport guides when they arrive. This does leave a gap for applications to target users who they see have spaces in their itineraries, whether that is for a hotel, a taxi or a flight. This could even be done within the travel programme so that only recommended vendors are put forward.
“Open booking will be a hot topic as more people demand the flexibility to book what they want on the go.”
