Mexico is a Hot Destination in Ireland

Irish visitors to Mexico in 2013 totalled 19,300, a 23% increase on 15,680 in 2012, which was 10.6% higher than in 2011. “We are on a positive curve and word of mouth is very big in Ireland,” Milko Rivera Hope, Director of the Mexico Tourism Board in London, told Irish Travel Trade News on a recent visit to Dublin.

“Mexico is one of the fastest growing transatlantic destinations from Ireland and offers an incredible product and great value – not just sun and beach but also Mayan cities, great food and wine (and tequila!), and colonial history.

“Cancun, Mexico City and Los Cabos attract the most Irish visitors, but the MTB also promotes other regions, including Cozumel and Guadalajara.

“There is a new flight from Manchester to Puerto Vallarta, British Airways is going from five to six times weekly in April, and Aeromexico has changed to a new B787 that provides 80 extra seats.

“We will be running a consumer campaign in Ireland and will be taking Irish agents to this year’s Mexico Quintana Roo on 6th – 9th May in Cancun. Feedback from the Irish travel trade and early bookings indicate that Mexico remains a hot destination in Ireland – especially for honeymooners and as the latter part of a two-stop transatlantic holiday.”
