Lufthansa is increasing capacity on services from Ireland for the summer. The airline claims that the changes are in response to increased customer demand and reflect the general economic upturn currently being experienced by the airline.
Overall Dublin capacity is increased by over 16%. This is made up of an 11.5% increase on the Frankfurt service achieved by operating more of the larger A321 on the service. With a 59.6% capacity increase to Munich being the result of the summer service increased from three to four flights a week from April and then to five flights a week in July and August using mainly A320 aircraft.
Lufthansa flights are also due to move into the new Terminal 2 at London Heathrow in early October as it becomes the new home for Star Alliance airlines. The brand new Lufthansa lounge to be unveiled at Terminal 2 will be the largest Lufthansa lounge facility outside the airline’s home-base in Germany, catering for Lufthansa Passenger Airline Group premium passengers, Miles & More status members, and other Star Alliance status customers who will be able to enjoy an unrivalled view of the apron area.
Covering an area of 1,600m2 and offering 350 seats, the design of the lounge will follow the new concept Lufthansa has been unveiling around the globe, including oak parquet flooring, high quality leather armchairs, back-lit walls, professional appliances and premium washrooms.
Since 2011, Lufthansa has invested approximately €35 million in constructing new lounges and refurbishing existing ones in order to further expand and enhance its airport lounge facilities for customers.
Lufthansa’s worldwide timetable for summer 2014 also includes improved services to Southeast Asia. From 30th March five weekly services (daily except Tuesday and Wednesdays) will be offered non-stop from Frankfurt to the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. From 31st May this flight will continue to Jakarta, Indonesia. In addition, passengers will also be able to connect to flights to Montreal in Canada from Frankfurt five times a week as well as the existing service from Munich but now also from Frankfurt.
There are new travel options from Munich too with passengers now able to connect to Mexico City and Toronto. This daily flight supplements the Frankfurt service during summer, and thus offering two daily flight options to Canada’s leading financial metropolis.
