Anyone scheduled to fly in or out of Germany today and tomorrow morning, via national flag carrier Lufthansa, is likely to see their flight plans significantly affected by a nationwide ground staff strike taking place.
The 24-hour strike will see Lufthansa ground handling staff at 7 German airports down tools, as part of the Ver.di trade union’s attempts to secure better pay conditions for its members.
The 27-hour strike is set to run from 4am Tuesday to 7:10am on Wednesday morning.
The strike action will effectively halt Lufthansa flights in and out of Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Berlin and Cologne-Bonn.
Union talks, just last week, failed to produce an agreement, but Ver.di and Lufthansa are set to talk again on Wednesday. The trade union is seeking a 12.5% pay rise for its members.
