London City Airport Fails in Bid for Extended Weekend Flying Times

London City Airport has failed in its bid for extended flying times.

The airport – which attracts business and leisure travellers, alike, to London via the English capital’s financial district – had wanted to relieve the limits imposed on weekend flights.

Currently, flights can land and depart London City Airport between 6:30am and 10:30pm on weekdays, but only between 6:30am and 1pm on Saturdays.

London City Airport wanted that Saturday deadline extended to 6:30pm, but the bid was not allowed by the local Newham Council.

The Council had received widespread objections to the airport’s proposals – from local residents and a number of local authorities.
