Lithuania Positioned as Amber Country

On Wednesday 3rd June, Amber Differently, an exhibition organised by the Lithuanian State Department of Tourism, will open at 12.00 noon in the O’Callaghan Davenport Hotel in Dublin to showcase Lithuania’s tourism offering and national cuisine, as well as unique amber jewellery and cosmetics and linen production. Members of Lithuanian community in Dublin will hold a musical performance during the event.

Jurgita Kazlauskiene, Director General, said: “Seeking to raise awareness of Lithuania in the Irish tourism market and thereby increase visitor numbers, we need to continuously form steady and recognisable images of our country. So this time we are coming to Dublin with the message that Lithuania is the country of amber.

“Lithuania’s joining the Eurozone by adopting the euro at the beginning of this year is another important message for Irish tourists. It serves as a guarantee for high quality tourism services for reasonable prices.”

The event is being organised by the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Ireland. In their presentations of the most attractive tourism services, products and news Lithuanian tourism business suppliers, including representatives of 5-star hotels Ramada Hotel & Suites and Vilnius Grand Resort, will emphasise the possibilities of city breaks, access options, touring routes and what to see and do.

Lithuania was awarded third place among the top 10 most recommended places to visit in 2015 by Lonely Planet. During the first quarter of 2015 Irish visitor numbers to Lithuania increased by 14.2%, while last year 4,100 Irish tourists spent 8,800 nights in the country.

The tourism business mission is part of the project ‘Improvement of the Image of Lithuania and Increasing Awareness in Foreign Markets’. It is initiated by the State Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy and is implemented and co-financed by the European Regional Development 09-001.
