It’s a win-win sponsorship for Aer Lingus and the IRFU as the carrier unveiled one of its fleet in the ‘IRFU and player branding’. This follows on from the recently announced partnership deal with the IRFU. ‘Green Spirit’, an A320 registration EI-DEO, was painted especially to promote the new sponsorship.
The aircraft is now in service operating across the carrier’s short-haul network to the UK and continental Europe. The aircraft even has its own hashtag #greenspirit.
The three-year deal will see Aer Lingus support the IRFU by flying players, management and support staff around Europe as they compete in the RBS 6 Nations Championships and in other high profile events.
Just for the record, because it is sure to come up as a question in a table quiz, the four players whose images feature on the aircraft are Tommy Bowe, Robbie Henshaw, Rob Kearney and Conor Murray.
Stephen Kavanagh, Chief Executive, Aer Lingus, said: “The livery in IRFU and player branding is a first for Aer Lingus and recognises the contribution sport makes to all our lives. The partnership deal with the IRFU forms part of a wider repositioning of the Aer Lingus brand and our commitment to supporting the best of Irish.”
