On a week where Portugal took centre stage, there was so much for attendees at the recent TTR Portugal Roadshow to enjoy, as recently reported here on ITTN.
Traditional Portuguese food cooked by chefs flown to Ireland specially from Porto. Delicious Portuguese wine from the famous winemaking region of Alentejo. Engaging presentations by the tourism offices of some of Portugal’s regions including Visit Algarve, Visit Alentejo, and Visit Madeira.

Networking with some of Portugal’s cutting-edge hoteliers, DMCs, and experiential companies. And a mouthwatering prize draw with some amazing giveaways to be won.
But one thing that made this, the second iteration of the TTR Portugal Roadshow, unique was a brand-new competition aimed at some of the travel industry’s newer faces.

Last month, it was announced that during the TTR Portugal Roadshow 2025, a gin-making competition would be held, with the prize of an all expenses paid trip to the ITAA annual conference in Centro, Portugal on offer for three lucky winners. There were a number of parameters for entrants to ensure that it would only be open to newcomers. The entrants had to be nominated by their employer, and they could not have attended a previous ITAA conference in order to be eligible. The competition drew great interest from the industry’s top travel agencies.

On the night, while other agents networked, each nominee was invited to come up and give it their all as they made their best gin cocktail using Casanova Dry Gin, a premium brand made in Alcobaça, Centro of Portugal. They were each given some tonic and a selection of botanicals to garnish and make their drinks stand out.
The three winners, and soon-to-be attendees of the ITAA Conference 2025 in Centro, Portugal are: · Shay Browne – Killiney Travel · Amber Fox – Frosch · Aran Kebbe – Travel Department.
