The Turkish hub serves 309 destinations, driven mostly by Turkish Airlines, which serves more countries than any other airline.
Frankfurt Airport was ranked second most connected hub, with 296 destinations served in the first half of this year; followed by Paris Charles de Gaulle with 282 destinations.
Half of this year’s top 20 airports are European hubs. China and the US have four entries each, while the Middle East has two. London’s two big airports – Heathrow and Gatwick – ranked 12th and 14th in the survey, which was carried out by aviation analytics firm Cirium.
