Intrepid Travel Launches 28 New Active Trips

Intrepid Travel has unveiled 28 new active trips for 2026, featuring hiking, cycling, kayaking, snorkelling and rafting adventures across the globe. Designed for travellers who enjoy active, nature-based travel, the new trips span Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas and balance outdoor activities with immersive cultural experiences, all while travelling with a small group and local leader.

The new itineraries include the 7-day Croatia and Montenegro: Hike, Bike & Raft trip, which sees travellers rafting the Tara River Canyon, Europe’s deepest canyon and a UNESCO-listed world heritage site; the 9-day Central America: Hike, Bike & Kayak trip which includes an overnight hike to catch sunrise views of an active volcano in Guatemala and the 10-day Hiking in Romania: Via Transilvanica Trail, where travellers can pass through forests and small villages in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains.

The launch comes amid growing demand for active adventures and more people prioritising nature and outdoor activities on their holidays. Intrepid has seen a 13% increase year-on-year across its active trips from UK bookings, with its multi-active range – which offers a mix of physical activities – up 25%. This momentum reflects a broader lifestyle shift towards health and wellbeing, with community run club participation up 59% year-on-year in 20241 and the global wellness economy expected to expand by 7.3% annually2.

Erica Kritikides, General Manager of Experiences at Intrepid Travel, said: “Intrepid’s style of travel has always resonated with people seeking active adventure, which makes this broader societal shift towards health and wellbeing especially exciting.”

“For many travellers, the best way to unwind is by moving, and that’s exactly what our active adventures are all about. These trips let travellers move, explore and reconnect with nature, while sharing the experiences with a community of like-minded travellers.”

The new range includes five multi-active trips, 21 walking and trekking trips, and two cycling trips, bringing Intrepid’s total active offerings to 148. The new trips are now available to book and will depart from February 2026.

Intrepid’s active trips are designed to cater to travellers seeking varying levels of activity. Every Intrepid trip is assigned a physical rating from one to five, providing travellers with guidance on how much physical exertion to expect. Intrepid’s active trips fall between ratings three and five, with moderate to challenging physical activity that requires a good level of fitness.
