Intrepid Travel has added 22 new “environment impact initiatives” to its escorted tours in 2022.
The experiences directly support environmental or wildlife conservation, preserve indigenous cultures or support marginalised social groups.
Most of Intrepid Travel’s top trips already offer “impact initiatives”, with dozens having been added to the tour operator’s portfolio in the last year.
The additions for 2022 include visiting a community-run teahouse in Morocco; carbon-neutral whale-watching in Iceland; and a heritage tour in South Dakota.
Erica Kritikides, senior product manager at Intrepid Travel, said: “Businesses such as ours have an exciting opportunity, not to mention a responsibility, to find more ways to contribute in a positive way to the places and people we visit.
“Being more intentional with the experiences we offer our travellers allows us to collectively make a greater positive impact in our shared world.”
