Intrepid Expands in North Europe with New Copenhagen Hub

Intrepid, a world leader in responsible travel, has expanded its presence in Northern Europe with the opening of its first destination management company in Denmark.

Based in Copenhagen, the local team will operate Intrepid’s range of 23 North Europe small group tours, with plans to expand the offering by adding eight new itineraries in 2026, while doubling its customer numbers from 4,000 to 8,000 over the next five years. Inga Rós Antoníusdóttir, who was appointed General Manager Northern Europe in November, will oversee operations and lead the team.

The office opening is part of Intrepid’s wider strategy to grow its operational presence in Europe, with six new offices planned over the next five years.

Kristijan Švajnzger, Regional General Manager East Europe, Nordic and Caucasus at Intrepid, said: “Opening a hub in Copenhagen marks a pivotal moment for Intrepid and reflects our strong confidence in the region.

“Northern Europe is seeing incredible growth, fueled by the rise of ‘coolcations,’ growing interest in Nordic culture, breathtaking natural landscapes, and a strong commitment to sustainability. I’m excited to see our team take Intrepid’s presence in the region to the next level. At Intrepid, it’s not just about growing our community — it’s about creating more meaningful opportunities for cultural connection and exchange.”

Zina Bencheikh, managing director, Europe, Middle East and Africa, added: “I’m delighted to be opening our first office in Scandinavia. There is huge potential for Intrepid to grow in Europe and expanding our country offices gives us an exciting opportunity to expand our product range and purpose activity in the region.”

This follows on from their acquisition of Dutch brand, Sawadee in February of this year.
