International SIM Card Launches to Irish Travel Trade

A new international SIM card, toggle mobile (Togglemobile.co.uk), designed to stop travellers being hit with large overseas phone bills, is being launched to the travel trade after the product’s introduction to the Irish market. The mobile technology allows users to save money when roaming across multiple destinations without the need to keep changing SIM cards.

Toggle mobile is being made available to agents who will have the SIM card for free and sell it for €9.50. The SIM card will initially contain €3.00 credit and the agent will also receive €2.50 commission for the first three top ups made by the customer (total €7.50).

The SIM is particularly effective for those keen to keep in touch with colleagues, friends and family when travelling between Ireland and the UK. The toggle mobile SIM comes with a permanent UK number and the option to add a selection of local numbers while travelling, including an Irish number. This mechanism enables callers to speak with toggle mobile users at the local network rate, rather than paying for international calls.

Chris Liveing, Group Marketing Director, Toggle Mobile, believes the SIMs provide a lucrative opportunity for agents: “We have launched the new service for travellers which directly tackles the issue of high data roaming charges, something many agents may personally identify with, and certainly their clients. Our sales proposition for agents keen to find additional ways to earn commission we believe is an exciting one. Not only will they be able to earn the instant €9.50 per sale but they will also stand to earn commission on the first three top ups as well.”

With regard to the tariffs Toggle offers customers, Liveing said: “We offer fantastic value with straightforward pricing and very little small print. We know consumers appreciate simplicity in this sector and that is what we aim to provide. Agents can be confident that Toggle offers a great value solution to those high data roaming charges that always put people on edge when travelling abroad.”

Until recently, Ireland was one of the only remaining EU countries that had not been part of the Toggle mobile network, which offers the company’s most preferential rates. However, following an agreement with a local mobile operator, Irish expats living in the UK and those travelling to the country on business can now access a tariff where calls are 15p a minute, SMS are 9p per message and Internet browsing costs for 15p per MB.

As well as Ireland, the Toggle Mobile network offering local numbers currently spans the UK, Netherlands, Australia, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, France and Germany. Poland, the USA, Canada, Portugal, Belgium and Italy are all coming on board towards the end of 2012. Plans to expand the network even further are ongoing.

To obtain a local number for selected countries users simply need to register the destinations that they plan to visit on the website and they will automatically receive a local number for the duration of their stay. On arrival in the registered country the SIM automatically switches to the allocated number.
