In memoriam of Linda McNamara

It is with heavy hearts we share the sad and untimely death of Linda McNamara, who passed away after a short illness.

Linda will be sadly missed by her husband Ger, daughter Marena, sons Paul and Gary and all her extended family.

Dominic Burke, Travel Centres, shared, “Linda was a woman who was diminutive in stature. but huge in spirit and fought her illness with great bravery. She was a natural businesswoman and ran her business, Ace Travel in Newcastle West in Co. Limerick, which celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2020.

“She was a valuable member of Travel Centres, gave generously of her time over many years by contributing as a member of the advisory board and her good counsel and loyal friendship were greatly appreciated by all who knew her.

Linda was passionate about the travel industry and was at the heart of many representations to politicians — both locally and nationally — in having our voice heard and getting the support that our industry so badly needed. We all owe a debt of gratitude to her for her tireless efforts on our behalf.

Like all Irish mammies, Linda adored her grandchildren and I have no doubt that she will have left an indelible impression on all their lives with her passing.

A beautiful person both inside and out — she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.”

Pat Dawson, CEO of the ITAA commented “‘Linda fought tooth and nail for our industry and was firmly in the trenches with us all during these past few years. Always first to raise her hand for work or to help out. She was on-site to canvas the government when it was needed. A true lady with a strong spirit which will be remembered fondly in the industry. Condolences to her family. “

Sharon Jordan, Managing Director of ITTN, commented, “I’d like to pass on all my condolences to Linda’s family and friends. I’ve shared many happy times with Linda over the years – and she always kept me on my toes. Never one to shirk hard work she always had a smile for everyone. RIP Linda. “
