Leaders of the main unions representing Iberia ground staff are expected to agree to a deal today (Tuesday) to end industrial action. They said yesterday that they had agreed in principle to accept proposals put forward by a Spanish Government-appointed mediator and they were confident they would be passed at a union meeting today.
Iberia’s board of directors has already accepted the proposals, which will reduce the number of redundancies from a planned 3,807 to 3,141 and mean a higher level of redundancy payment to those workers who are laid off.
Iberia has suffered two five-day strikes by workers since management announced the job cuts – and unions had been planning further strikes this month.
