The recent UNESCO-themed fam trip to Prague, Kutná Hora, Sedlec and Olomouc organised by the Czech Tourist Board was enjoyed by all 16 participants – including the best weather ever recorded, hitting highs of 28 degrees!
Built between the 11th and 18th centuries, Prague’s Old Town, Lesser Town and New Town include many magnificent monuments such as Hradcani Castle, St Vitus Cathedral, and Charles Bridge, built mostly in the 14th century under the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles IV.
Kutná Hora and the neighbouring town of Sedlec are also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among the most important buildings are the Gothic five-naved St Barbara’s Church begun in 1388, and the Italian Court. Sedlec is the site of the Gothic Cathedral of Our Lady and the famous Ossuary with its bone collections and interiors.
Olomouc is the ecclesiastical metropolis and historical capital city of Moravia and includes the Holy Trinity Column, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and St Wenceslas Cathedral.
