The Hertz Corporation, the world’s largest general use car rental brand, was recently awarded two Travel + Leisure’s Social Media in Travel and Tourism (SMITTY) Awards.
Recognised for excellence in social media and innovations, Hertz received the award for Best Use of Foursquare after the company encouraged its customers to use the social platform by offering discounts to those who checked in at selected Hertz airport locations. Additionally, Hertz won the award for Best Overall Use of Social Media among car rental companies for its increasingly engaging Twitter and Facebook platforms.

SMITTY Award winners are chosen by an expert panel including Jason Clampet, Co-founder and Head of Content at Skift; Ashley Perez, Senior Editor, BuzzFeed; and Al Roker, Today Show host.
