Green Fig, Sulphur Springs & More – St Lucia with Virgin Atlantic

Celene Duffy (Key Account Manager, APG Ireland) & the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority are hosting a fam trip of Irish travel trade and ITTN to the sandy shores of the Caribbean Island with Virgin Atlantic.

Soufriere by Boat

Sailing the St Lucian coastline was a treat in itself and a leisurely hour to soak up the Caribbean sunshine, seaside and tropical landscape. Our journey was bringing us from Rodney Bay Marina to Soufriere further south on the west coast of St. Lucia.

Green Fig Resort & Spa

A sumptuous lunch awaited at Green Fig Resort & Spa. This delightful luxury hotel is set high on a lush, tropical slope overlooking the coastline and colourful town of Soufriere in Saint Lucia. This oozes charm and Caribbean character. Just five minutes from the beach, this is a paradise (with a fair few steps so best for able bodied guests).

The boutique resort welcomes adults and children over 12. With just 27 rooms, the “Treehouse Feel” resort enjoys spectacular views of the Pitons, a UNESCO World heritage site and the Caribbean Sea. The all inclusive package is optional and the hotel has three pools, a luxury spa, one restaurant and one bar.

This is on the doorstep of countless adventures from the Sulphur Springs to the Pitons, nature trails, botanical gardens, waterfalls, snorkelling & diving, sunset cruises, zip-lining, ATV rides, chocolate & rum tastings and more.

Sulphur Springs

The next adventure was a tour and visit to Sulphur Springs with included a mud bath experience. Were were advised to wear dark colour swimwear.

The Soufrier Volcano last errupted over two centuries ago in the 1700’s. It originated from a weak spot in the crust of a collapsed volcanic crater. One of the best features of the volcano is the ability to dive into the mud baths.

The mud baths at Sulphur Springs attract people from all over the world because it detoxifies the body and helps heal the likes of sun burns, eczema, arthritis and sore joints.

After a tour along the volcanic landscape (which is a bit whiffy), we got to enjoy the steaming hot springs and mud baths which claim to take a decade off you. I was tempted to do it twice.

If I did it again, I would spend less time walking around the sulphur surrounds and more time soaking in the steaming springs!

Anse Chastanet & Jade Mountain Resorts

Perched majestically above Anse Chastanet’s 600-acre beachfront estate, Jade Mountain Resort in St. Lucia offers a striking blend of organic architecture and awe-inspiring panoramas. Designed by architect-owner Nick Troubetzkoy, this ultra-luxury resort offers 24 sanctuaries where the bedroom, living area and private infinity pool merge into one.

Jade Cusine at the Jade Mountain Club offers one-of-a-kind cuisine crafted by James Beard award-winning chef, Allen Susser and his team.

Guests of Jade Mountain enjoy privileged access to the full suite of amenities at the adjoining sister Anse Chastanet Resort which is across the road. Guests can dine at several beachside and hillside restaurants—including a vegan option—visit bars, boutiques, and an art gallery.

The two secluded Caribbean beaches of the resorts offer serene escapes with soft, sandy shores and sparkling blue waters, just a brief stroll or a quick 2-minute shuttle ride away.

Adventure seekers can explore over 12 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails or dive into excitement with their PADI 5 Star scuba operation and snorkeling right off the shore.

The Anse Chastanet resort boasts one of the island’s most stunning panoramic views where the majestic Piti and Gros Piton mountains meet the serene Caribbean Sea. Positioned on a private estate of 600 lush tropical acres, Anse Chastanet borders two pristine soft-sand Caribbean beaches and offers access to untouched coral reefs just offshore, perfect for those interested in scuba diving in St. Lucia.

While Jade Mountain is celebrated for its tranquil sanctuaries and romantic seclusion, Anse Chastanet provides the perfect contrast, offering thrilling activities and beautiful landscapes for a perfectly balanced getaway.

Windjammer Landing Resorts & Residences

Windjammer Landing Resort & Residences is set overlooking the Caribbean Sea. On the northwest of the island, this resort is nestled in the heart of Labrelotte Bay just a 15-minute drive from Rodney Bay and 20 minutes from the capital, Castries.

The complex stretches over 60 acres and appeals to families, honeymooners, and couples. Indulge in world-class dining, luxury pools, a range of water sports while children and teens enjoy activities such as pizza parties, coconut bowling, and dance lessons. Splash out with a private candlelit dinner or opt from a range of excursions in the vicinity.

The all inclusive resort offers six swimming pools, seven restaurants, and a multitude of on site activities on land and sea. The rooms and suites can accommodate from 2 to 6 guests with 2-bedroom coastline suites available.

There are also villas with their own private pools which range from 1,875 to 4,200 sqft which can accommodate from 4 up to 8 guests (1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom properties). Furthermore, there is the Manor Collection which can sleep up to 10 people (depending on which manor).

The group were treated to full use of one of the luxurious villas which had a private pool. We were also spoilt with a chef crafting a custom-made menu at the villa, overlooking the secluded private bay.

The food was exquisite and guests can enjoy a broad range of restaurants including the Upper Deck steakhouse, Papa Don’s serving Mediterranean cuisine, Ember offering casual dining and quick bites, Jammers Restaurant & Bar right on the water’s edge, Dragonfly offering seafood delights as well s Masala at Embers serving Indian cuisine.

This was an absolute highlight of the trip and the perfect way to call time on our Caribbean adventure.
