Government Updates Travel Advice For Greece Following Crete Earthquake

The Department of Foreign Affairs has issued updated travel advice regarding the Greek islands of Santorini, Amorgos, Anafi and Ios following earthquake activity in the region this week.

An undersea earthquake, with a 6.1 magnitude, struck close to Crete on Thursday morning and was felt throughout the region. It followed on from a 5.9 magnitude quake nearby earlier this month.

Santorini also suffered seismic activity earlier this year.

Following seismic activity in this part of Greece, the authorities have put in place a series of safety measures on Santorini until November, including at the Old Port of Fira, the eastern part of the settlement of Armeni Oia and the Ammoudi Settlement.
