The World Pipe Band Championships have been associated with Glasgow for more than 60 years and have been held in the city continuously for the last 30 years. The Championships welcomes up to 8,000 pipers and drummers from across the world.

A total of 235 bands have entered the World Pipe Band Championships in 2016, which is one of the highest in the history of the event. Entries have been received from as far afield as Canada, the USA, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Zimbabwe, as well as from across Europe, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.2973-080

The St Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band from Dublin, together with the Field-Marshall Montgomery Band from Belfast, will be competing for the title of the world’s best pipe competition for 2016.Pipinglive
