The Governor of Georgia, Nathan Deal and his wife, Sandra, along with representatives from the Government of Georgia, Department of Economic Development, including Kevin Langston, Tracy Vaughan and Peter Hannaford, came to Dublin to support his local college team, Georgia Tech, and hosted a reception for the travel trade and media.
He told Irish Travel Trade News of the wonderful and diverse region that is Georgia, with activities including football, basketball and soccer, and how they are looking forward to a new stadium in Atlanta.
The tourism industry generates US$54 billion for the region and, with the Delta Air Lines hub at Atlanta bringing tourists from all over the world including Ireland, this is set to continue for the foreseeable future. The tourism product is of the highest order with golf, fishing, walking, water sports and all outdoor activities available for all ages.
The Governor was using his time here in Dublin meeting prospective Irish companies that are interested in setting up subsidiaries in the USA – so the visit was not all fun and games!
Southern hospitality was the special feature of the event and the Governor’s sign off words said it all: “You’ll all come”.
