An overnight houseboat in Botswana, a historic heritage home in India, design suites in Argentina and a jungle lodge in Borneo are four forms of unique, upgraded accommodation travellers will experience on G Adventures’ expanded range of more than 100 Comfort trips in 2014.
In response to increased demand, 21 new Comfort trips have been added to the programme, all featuring handpicked accommodation and extras such as airport transfers, private transport and more included meals. The trips all maintain the traditional aspects of a G Adventures tour and provide a truly local, cultural holiday.
Some new experiences Comfort travellers will have are a guided Chimpanzee walk in Rwanda, rickshaw tour of Yogakarta in Indonesia, a Tibetan cooking demonstration, a blessing by Buddhist monks in Bhutan, and a shared meal with a local family in Cappadocia, Turkey.
Additionally, five of the new trips feature visits to Planeterra projects, G Adventures’ non-profit organisation, which builds projects to help local people in the destinations travellers stay. These include a vocational training restaurant in Varanasi, a Planterra-supported school in South Africa and a guided walk with former street children in Delhi.
Lisa Warner, Director of International Marketing, G Adventures, says the trips appeal to adventure-seeking travellers who want an authentic experience with the social interaction that travelling in a small group provides, as well as plenty of life’s comforts. “We have seen a huge increase in demand for our Comfort trips, particularly in the UK & Ireland market where sales have grown by more than 50% in the past year. Thailand and Ecuador have proven popular, and we are excited to bring travellers even more destinations to experience our Comfort product.
“These trips really appeal to travellers who have the time and money to travel, yet want to combine destination highlights with interactions with the communities they visit, without sacrificing on comfort. We have seen demand grow in the 30-50 age group and with solo female professionals looking to enjoy the ease and security small of group travel while learning about people and cultures they may not be familiar with.”
