Former Budget Travel and Flight Centre travel agent, Kirsty Diaso, is hosting a fundraiser on 10 February to raise funds for Kirsty’s son, Andre, who has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
Kirsty explains on the fundraiser page that “Cerebral Palsy varies from person to person. At present, for Andre, it affects his movement and posture, he has extreme muscle stiffness, as well as no right-hand function. As time has gone on, due to the damage to his brain this has caused other neurological problems. We have noticed seizures, and he is being monitored for epilepsy.”
She goes on to mention that “Andre has damage to his optic nerves in both eyes, and there are queries around whether his eyes are further impaired with an eye condition called CVI. Andre has speech delay as well as some delays in his learning capabilities. Despite all of this, Andre is the happiest boy, loving, full of fun and smiles. He brightens up a room with his cheeky laugh. Andre is progressing every day and has come on leaps and bounds within the last six months due to many private interventions we have sourced and paid for. He has so much potential to reach all of his milestones and we want to give him every chance to get there by providing continued therapies which are not available through the HSE/NHS. We have fully invested in private therapies to supplement the small amount Andre receives from the HSE.”
10 February marks Andre’s second birthday and Kirsty and her family are asking anyone who would like to take part to wear Andre’s favourite colour, red, and donate €1/£1 to the fundraiser.
The funds raised will allow Kirsty’s family to take Andre to a specialist pediatric centre. All funds raised go to Andre’s Tree Of Hope account, which is a registered charity that pays Andre’s healthcare bills directly from all monies raised.
