Following a review of its Dublin – London City service, Flybe has decided to cease operating the route from 31st May 2015.
Paul Simmons, Chief Commercial Officer, said: ”Flybe has a disciplined approach to the routes it operates, which means we continually review our network to ensure that we offer the right choice of destinations for our customers. Following a review of the London City – Dublin route’s operation, passenger numbers and profitability, Flybe has regretfully taken the decision to suspend the service with the last flight operating on 31st May.
“Despite our competitive pricing structure, overall passenger numbers are below our projections and there are no signs of this situation changing, which has led to us taking this decision. Passengers who have booked to fly on this route are being contacted and offered an alternative flight or a full refund. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers.”
Competition on the route has intensified since 26th October 2014 when British Airways commenced five daily flights with Embraer Regional jets – bringing the total to 18 flights per day between British Airways, CityJet and Flybe. In addition, CityJet is to add an additional Sunday flight from 19th April.
