Finnair to Trial Use of Electronic Passports

Finnair is to trial the use of electronic passports for passengers on certain flights.

The airline will trial usage of Digital Travel Credentials – or DTC – on certain flights between Finland and the UK.

In collaboration with the Finnish Border Guard and the Finnish Police, the move will allow people to use the digital version of their personal details at passport control, which is apparently faster.

The pilot project will run on flights from Helsinki to Manchester, London and Edinburgh between now and the end of next February.

The EU is looking to develop DTC as part of its digital identity policy programme.
