Finnair Promotes Wellness Offerings Onboard and on the Ground

Finnair is encouraging customers to prioritise their wellbeing this winter, by highlighting a range of wellness options available both onboard and in its Helsinki lounges.

As the flag carrier of Finland, the airline is dedicated to creating a serene, Nordic inspired environment, enabling customers to get into the holiday mood before reaching the destination.

Offering travellers the option to drink, dine, and unwind, before taking to the skies, Finnair boasts three lounges at its home hub, Helsinki – the Schengen Lounge, non-Schengen Lounge and renowned Platinum Wing. The lounges contain dedicated zones for working, relaxing, and dining. With comfortable sofas and cosy armchairs, bringing a calming atmosphere whilst in the airport. 

The Platinum Wing’s traditional Finnish sauna remains one of Finnair’s most unique hallmarks. Lined in darkened natural aspen wood, it replicates the authentic Finnish sauna experience, with a cooling area, organic skin care amenities, and natural mood lighting to ensure a calming environment for any stopover.

The airline also offers a variety of wellness focused mocktails in its lounges at Helsinki Airport, which change twice a year. With Finnair continuing to see a growing demand for non-alcoholic drink options, a number of Finnish-inspired recipes have been designed for travellers seeking a refreshing non-alcoholic alternative when travelling. 

All of Finnair’s classic cocktails are also available as a non-alcoholic alternative, using either Seedlip spirits or 0% gin, while non-alcoholic beer, wine and sparkling wine are also served on the ground. Due to demand, late last year, Finnair also brought more firm favourites to the sky, with alcohol-free beer, Nocco energy drinks, and fruit smoothies available at 35,000ft.

Local Finnish ingredients are used in all of the airline’s mocktail offerings including lingonberries, cloudberries and blueberries. For example, the signature cocktail ‘Northern Blush’ contains the Finnish delicacy, lingonberry, whilst the ‘Bluesinki’ cocktail – another staple on their lounge menu, features Finnair’s famous blueberry juice. 

From this month, Finnair’s non-alcoholic sparkling wine will also be upgraded to Finnish brand, Poikain Parhaat. Inspired by its Nordic roots, and carefully created using locally sourced ingredients, the airline has chosen the brand’s non-alcoholic Aurora sparkling wine, made from cloudberries. 

In a nod to its Nordic routes, Finnair’s Platinum Wing also has a dedicated à la carte dining area, combining local ingredients with delicious flavours from Asia.  

Alongside traditional firm favourites, customers can enjoy Finnair’s ‘Reindeer Burger’, made from locally sourced smoked reindeer and beef, with this firm-favourite having been on the menu since 2019. Vegan and vegetarian options have also been specially curated dishes, including Finnair’s ‘Beyond Burger’, made from locally sourced plant-based ingredients.

Business Class Classic and Flex ticket holders, as well as Finnair Plus Gold members, can enjoy complimentary access to the lounges. Finnair Plus Platinum and Platinum Lumo members will also benefit from exclusive access to the Platinum Wing and the Platinum Corner.

Customers will also have the option to purchase access to the lounges via Manage Booking or through the Finnair app.
