Falcon and Thomson, part of the TUI Group, have announced that they will offer Spain’s Costa Daurada as a new holiday destination direct from Ireland West Airport Knock during summer 2016, with a weekly flight every Tuesday from 26th June until 16th August.
Chris Logan, Head of Ireland for Falcon and Thomson, said: “We are delighted to operate once again from Ireland West Airport and believe Costa Daurada, serviced through Reus Airport, will prove a very popular choice for local holidaymakers. Over the last number of years Costa Daurada, including the resorts of Salou, La Pineda and Cambrils, has become a firm favourite from Ireland due to its short flight time, excellent range of quality hotels and apartments, and attractions for all the family.”
Set along the beautiful Costa Daurada, or ‘Golden Coast’ as it is commonly known, the three main resorts of Salou, La Pineda and Cambrils offer an excellent choice for families, couples and adults alike. From the bustling Salou with its palm-lined promenade running along a beautiful sandy beach to the more traditional fishing village of Cambrils, while La Pineda boasts its own golden beach, waterpark and low-key nightlife.
All resorts are on the doorstep of the famous theme park PortAventura, where children of all ages can enjoy roller coaster rides and some wild water adventures at the Caribbean-themed PortAventura Aquatic Park. Alternatively, a day trip to Barcelona, which is only 90 minutes away, will satisfy the culture vulture with quirky art and architecture and football fans with Nou Camp.
Joe Gilmore, Managing Director, Ireland West Airport Knock, said: “We are delighted to welcome a new service to Costa Daurada with leading tour operators Falcon and Thomson. This new service will come as welcome news to holidaymakers in the region as the airport has had very successful charter and scheduled services to Reus airport in Salou in recent years that proved hugely popular.
“The introduction of this service and the return of Falcon and Thomson to the airport is a further vote of confidence in Ireland West Airport Knock. It further highlights the demand that exists in the region for new services from the airport. We look forward to working with Falcon and Thomson once again and to promote this service in the coming months.”
