Etihad to Fly Daily to Tokyo and Casablanca

Etihad Airways will increase frequency to fly daily between Abu Dhabi and Tokyo’s Narita Airport from 2nd April 2013. The airline commenced a five-times-weekly flight in March 2010 and has since carried approximately 160,000 travellers between the two cities. Chief Executive James Hogan said: “Since launching, as expected there has been a high volume of traffic on the route, particularly from business travellers.”

The daily flights to Tokyo will be operated by a two-class Airbus A330-200 aircraft, configured with 22 Pearl Business class and 240 Coral Economy class seats. The airline offers range of in-flight services tailored to the particular needs of the Japanese market. This includes a special menu, Japanese language in-flight entertainment content and cabin crew comprising Japanese nationals and Japanese speakers.

Etihad Airways will also add extra flights to go daily to Casablanca starting 28th March 2013.

Alitalia Codeshare Expanded

Meanwhile, Etihad Airways has today also announced, with Alitalia, that direct Rome – Abu Dhabi flights will commence on 1st December 2012. The flights are on sale from today.

Subject to government approvals, Alitalia will operate the four weekly flights using an Airbus A330 aircraft. The flights, with seating for 230 passengers, will operate on a split schedule, ensuring maximum connectivity over Etihad Airways’ Abu Dhabi hub.

Etihad will place its EY code on the new Rome (Fiumicino) flights, building on the daily service it already operates to Milan.

In addition, Etihad will codeshare on Alitalia-operated flights beyond Rome to Venice and Zurich.  The airline already codeshares on Alitalia-operated flights from Rome to Milan, Frankfurt, Munich, Geneva and Athens.

Alitalia will continue to place its AZ code on Etihad Airways flights from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain, Muscat, Johannesburg, Bangkok, Melbourne and Sydney.
