A total  of 23 teams from Ireland flew out to Abu Dhabi to spend four nights in the UAE capital to lay claim to the title. The competition was held over two rounds of golf at the spectacular Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and the incredible Yas Links, the first links course in the Middle East region.

A furiously fought competition was won by the team led by professional player Padraig McGrath and his team mates of Robert Stanley, William Ennis and Cathal Sheehy. They were presented with their prizes at a gala event held at Park Inn on Yas Island.

This was the second year of the competition, which has grown in popularity from 16 teams competing in the first year and it is hoped  that next year will be even bigger and better.

Dave Walsh, Etihad Airways’ Country Manager Ireland, said: “Etihad Airways is delighted with our sponsorship of the PGA. This was the second year we have hosted the Etihad Airways PGA Abu Dhabi Pro Am and it has gone from strength to strength, with 16 teams competing in the first year to 23 teams travelling this November. Next year will hopefully be even bigger and better again.

“Ireland is recognised as one of the world’s leading golfing destinations and with our association with the PGA we hope to enhance this reputation through our global network, while at the same time demonstrating some of the golfing gems that the UAE has to offer the Irish golfing community.”
