Etihad Airways has been awarded Environmental Airline of the Year – retaining its title, in the process – in the prestigious Airline Ratings awards for 2023.
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier was recognised for its commitment to sustainable aviation and collaboration.
Etihad has achieved a remarkable 26% reduction in CO2 emissions per Revenue Tonne Kilometer (RTK).
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Aviation Group, expressed pride in the carrier’s CO2 reduction, stating: “This achievement is a testament to the dedication and efforts of our team to drive our sustainability agenda.”
Etihad continues to lead the way in sustainable aviation practices and initiatives.
The airline has also been recognised as number three in the Top 10 Airlines category globally.
Earlier this year, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) granted Etihad an honorary Green Industries Environmental Label for outstanding environmental performance.
The airline was recognised for finding innovative pollution control solutions and applying best environmental practices, which led to an increase in environmental compliance levels across the airline.
