Ethiopian Airlines Flight Takes Off from Dublin to Los Angeles

History was made when Ethiopian Airlines operated the first flight from Addis Ababa to Dublin and on to Los Angeles. The event was marked by a gala dinner that evening hosted by the airline.

Speaking at the dinner, Michael Yohannes, Senior Sales Representative – UK & Ireland, paid tribute and thanks to the wonderful co-operation the airline had received from Dublin Airport and other governmental bodies in making the new flight a reality.

Kevin Toland, Chief Executive, Dublin Airport, traced the beginning of the new route as he outlined how it all began more than two years ago at the CAPA meeting in Powerscourt, Co Wicklow, when he had first met the chief executive of Ethiopian Airlines and how the initial discussions had turned to reality as witnessed by the take-off of the new flight.

He went on to say that the historic and economic benefits to Ireland and Ethiopia were now beginning to emerge and that it was a unique event in aviation history as the flight joined the three continents of Africa, Europe and North America.

There were 20 prizes for the guests at the event with the top prize of two tickets on Ethiopian Airlines being won by Selam Abebe.
