Ethiopian Airlines, which already operates a daily flight between Addis Ababa and Washington DC, is planning a new Los Angeles route that would be the second destination in the USA for the airline. Such a long flight would require a stopover, and the carrier is planning to make a stopover in Dublin. The airline will have to secure traffic rights from the relevant Irish authority. If everything goes according to plan, Ethiopian will launch the flight to Los Angeles next year. However, passenger pick-up rights would need the approval of the Department of Transport,Tourism and Sport.
Ethiopian serves 80 destinations in five continents with 67 aircraft. The carrier, the fastest-growing African airline, is expanding its route network. Recently, it added Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Vienna to its route network. It will also launch new flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Manila and Tokyo in the near future.
